The Emir of Qatar is often claimed to have an “eclectic” style by many. But by the looks of his 500 million dollar Mega Yacht, some people would argue that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani has much more than just an eclectic style, he has one of the largest superyachts ever created. The larger-than-a-football-field Mega Yacht sits at 404-feet in length and knocks the other yachts out of the water. With its grandiose appearance and massive size, the Al Lusail effortlessly rules the seas.

The stunning superyacht was constructed by German ship manufacturer Lürssen in 2017 and has gained much notoriety since being labeled one of the largest yachts in the world. The famous shipyard Lürssen has designed several of the world’s grandest superyachts, including the well-known “Project Blue” which was released in July 2022 and currently ranks as the fifth largest superyacht ever created, the Al Lusail does not stand far behind it in size. The Emir made a good choice by choosing Lürssen to design his water-based palace as the German builder is globally recognized for its capability to deliver the latest in luxury, technology, and efficiency.

Although the Emir likes to keep the details of his ship discreet, we know that the entire interior was conceptualized by the international design house March & White. While spectators can only dream about the specifics of the ship’s elegant interior, a few extravagant details have been released regarding Al Lusail’s onboard features. To name a few, guests have the ability to enjoy several private indoor swimming pools, a fully-equipped gym, a movie theater, an elaborate spa and beauty area, and multiple private dining experiences. Then, after a long day of activity and luxury, guests can choose from one of the countless elegant accommodations available for use as the yacht is large enough to house as many as 36 guests and 56 crew members.

The impressive exterior was designed by the London-based firm H2 Yacht Design who stands responsible for the sleek all-white look and massive tinted windows throughout multiple decks. The large outdoor deck on the Al Lusail has an entire beach club area with an extendable swimming platform, barbecue pits, and a giant helipad for easy to-and-from access. Although, air travel is not the only method of departure from the ship as the superyacht is also equipped with a 30-foot garage that holds two limousine tenders and a D-RIB boat.

The lavish accommodations of this megayacht are highly impressive, but the technical capabilities of the Al Lusail are what make the nautical lovers swoon. The huge twin MTU engines allow the boat to reach a top speed of 15 knots and cruise comfortably at 12 knots for more than 4,500 nautical miles. This is remarkable considering the yacht weighs 8,489-tons – its large body has a huge aluminum superstructure, steel hull and teak decks.

The famous Emir of Qatar is also the owner of a 33,000 sq. ft. $247 million mansion in the heart of London and a $200 million private Boeing 747 Jumbo known as the ‘flying palace’.

All things considered, some may still describe Al Thani’s style as “eclectic”, but I am pronouncing it as extravagant. It’s luxuries like these that make yacht and real estate buyers itch with inspiration, and the Al Lusail has set the bar high on what deems to be luxury at sea.

Posh Ping-Pong: Louis Vuitton Just Launched Their $2,300 Sports Set

The social game of ping-pong just took a turn toward luxury, as the esteemed fashion label Louis Vuitton has officially released its very own ping pong paddle set.

This sports set is perfect for anyone who takes their ping-pong game a little too seriously, or for those looking to buy a ping-pong lover the gift-of-their-dreams. Meeting both prestige and functionality, this set comes with two miniature rackets and a leather strap holder for 4 Louis Vuitton ping pong balls. The two well-performing paddles have handles that are made with soft light wood and have shiny “LV” chrome logos attached. The high-quality cover is made out of Louis Vuitton’s famous monogram leather and comes in two colors; the iconic brown and tan tone, as well as a beautiful black and chrome combination.

Each set has the heavy-duty coordinating Louis Vuitton zippers in shiny gold or silver metal to create a sturdy paddle cover. The four ping-pong balls that complete this sports set are secured in Louis Vuitton’s thick leather straps and each ball has the “LV” logo printed on it, as even the small details of this sports set scream prestige. As a whole, the glamorous Louis Vuitton ping pong set is listed at $2,280.00 and is available for purchase online or in select Louis Vuitton retailers.

Louis Vuitton is doing a stellar job at maximizing on the high-class consumer’s love for quality sports equipment. They recently released a two-piece dumbbell set which is covered in the brand’s distinguished LV monogram leather and shiny gold accents, with soft Epi leather handles which are resistant to perspiration marks. These fancy workout pieces claim to be only 2 kgs each, however they definitely ‘weigh’ down the buyer’s pockets in more ways than one as the set is priced at nearly $3,000.00.

To go along with the luxe weights, LV has crafted a beautiful $2,000.00 “LV” stamped yoga mat with a durable shoulder strap and classic brown leather card holder. Meant for stretching in elegance, the mat can pack up and travel easily with the included secure leather handles. Furthermore, these two items pair perfectly with the label’s expensive chrome water bottle and leather holder, or possibly the leather-bound jump rope. Fancy a $3,000 skateboard? Louis Vuitton has it all, from elegant handbags and gorgeous apparel, to ping pong sets and workout accessories, the brand is a one-stop-shop for the finest in luxury goods.

Whether it’s because of the absurd price or the creative concept, Louis Vuitton’s ping pong set is certainly attracting attention. Perhaps luxury workout accessories are becoming the new purse..and the holidays are just around the corner.

Glorious Glamping: Five-Stars Under the Stars

Nothing is more exciting than trying out a new travel experience with parameters that make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Many people in society love the idea of being adventurous, getting outdoors, and breathing in the crisp, natural air. Especially after the world had been on lockdown for many months during the pandemic, the crave for a taste of the great outdoors is strong. The trail-exploring, campfire-cooking, marshmallow-roasting memories are what people long for; however, many travelers are over the age of sleeping on the crawler-infested ground. Using an appliance-less bathroom for days on end is enough for the common person to say “never again”. There must be a remedy for nature lovers and luxe travelers to meet in the middle.

Glamping is where raw nature meets upscale accommodations. This concept has been on the rise ever since people realized they can enjoy the outdoors while also receiving a luxurious and comfortable travel experience. This method of vacationing is often the only way to savor some of the most untouched parts of the world without sacrificing the comforts of a traditional luxury resort.

Glamping includes much more than a nice tent. Some of the most prestigious glamping sites in the U.S. provide five-star farm-to-table restaurants, en-suite massages, curated s’mores kits, and extravagant spa/wellness services. It’s features like these that truly allow guests to rejuvenate and soak-in nature without fearing the common challenges that come along with camping. Once guests have relaxed enough, they can embark on some of the extreme outdoor activities that many of these impressive glamping sites offer. Some awesome activities provided by many resorts include horseback riding, river rafting, fly fishing, kayaking, mountain biking, zip-lining, music festivals, boat rides, and more – the list is truly endless! A few of these destinations even cut off their wifi, encouraging guests to unplug and sincerely connect to what’s around them. However, these luxuries aren’t necessarily for everyone, nightly rates for some of the most prestigious rooms can be over $2,000.00 per night!

The glamping site “Weeping Buffalo Resort” located in Zion National Park is a perfect example of where luxury meets land. The resort offers different styles of accommodations that range from tipis, covered wagons, and cave-dwelling rooms. (Talk about going back to our roots…) Yet, these lodgings have hardwood floors, private hot tubs, flat screen TV’s, perfect views, and more. While one person may want to rough-it-up with a good camping trip, another may want to recoup at a luxury resort, and glamping is where you can do both.

Whether it’s a traveler’s desire to simply try out a new concept, star gaze in the comfort of a warm bed, or stay on-site within some of the most pristine landscapes that common chain resorts simply cannot capture, glamping provides a perfect solution to take you off the beaten path and into the wild without sacrificing the comforts we’ve all become accustomed to.

“Travel is a net good for humanity. It connects us, drives economic growth, and fosters global exchange.” —Kathy Savitt, President of Boom Supersonic

This is something all world travelers recognize: the beauty, the risk, the connection and the overall adventure that traveling encompasses. What if we implied that the nature of airline travel altogether is in position for a revolutionary change? Well, it is, with the once-praised concept of supersonic aviation.

What is Supersonic Aviation?

Supersonic travel succeeds in challenging the laws of physics. Vehicles that move at supersonic speeds are capable of traveling faster than the speed of sound. And sound travels rapidly—over 768 miles per hour, or in technical terms, at Mach 1 speed.

Have you ever heard of a sonic boom? It’s that loud, thunder-like “POP” when an aircraft traveling at supersonic speeds slices through the air. When an aircraft pushes through the layers of oxygen at supersonic speed, the air particles are separated and reunited so quickly that the force forms a shock wave. Similar to the front of a boat severing the waves before it with force, whereas the waves begin to travel outward with a ripple effect then clap together behind the boat, the same process happens in the occurrence up above. When the pressure of the shock wave releases, a loud, window-rattling sonic boom can be heard for several miles.

Supersonic travel also defies the concept of time. Beginning in 1969, the highly-acclaimed “Concorde” supersonic jet astonished millions of travelers as it flew passengers across the pond from London to New York in less than 3.5 hours. The groundbreaking new Concorde was capable of flying twice as fast as the speed of sound. As you can imagine, the ability to fly an aircraft faster than time zones can catch up with you was an almost unbelievable feat. The unprecedented technology would take long distance airline travel from an often-daunting experience to a revolutionary revival instantly, as the ability to land an aircraft prior to the original departure time was where the future met the moment, quite literally.

Although this life-changing innovation shocked the aviation industry and the world of travelers as a whole, there were still components to this new luxury technology that needed improvement. The Concorde executed its last flight in 2003, thanks to a series of issues such as severely-violated noise regulations, rising operation costs, decreasing ticket sales and a fatal plane crash back in the year 2000. While the aircraft once stood as the symbol of speed and luxury, the Concorde would ultimately go on to meet its destiny of expiration.

Boom Launches the Overture

Now, nearly two decades later, the aviation industry is being shaken up once again with a new and improved form of supersonic technology. The aircraft manufacturing company Boom Supersonic is reviving the hopes and dreams of the popular supersonic Concorde with their ingenious aircraft Overture. They recently revealed their stellar design for the anticipated aircraft, and in the next few years, Boom plans to continue perfecting the process with plans to conduct their first production launch in 2024. The company’s goal is to have their first passenger flight in 2026.

This is all very exciting. However, multitudes of travelers have their own qualms with supersonic flight after what went down in history almost 20 years ago, no pun intended. Travelers need their worries put to rest in order to trust supersonic travel once again. Fortunately, Boom has been developing this design for several years. Kathy Savitt, President and Chief Business Officer at Boom Supersonic, declared, “we had to really take the time to learn, to iterate, to walk our walk,” offering further evidence that the company is taking this venture very seriously.

There are a few features about this aircraft that leave jetsetters in a silent awe of hope for what’s to come for the industry. First, the Overture supersonic jet can travel at a speed of Mach 1.7, significantly faster than the speed of sound. However, the once-violated noise regulations have been resolved with help from the aircraft’s large gull wings which minimize the supersonic noise effect while maximizing fuel consumption. Further technical features have been prioritized in this design, as well, such as a modified delta planform to ensure safety and efficiency, and a sleek stabilizing tail to deliver improved balance and performance. The aircraft will have a range of 4,250 nautical miles and capacity for 65 to 80 passengers.

Aside from the impressive technical features this aircraft possesses, the team has also taken extra steps to make this design safe and sustainable. Boom’s 2021 Environmental Sustainability Report includes details of their “holistic approach to environmental well-being and commitment to a scalable & sustainable future for travel.” This is being accomplished in part by using carbon composite materials and only 100% SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel).

How Does This Impact the World of Aviation?

This innovative new concept could potentially change the aviation industry altogether. Following the global pandemic, individuals are craving a less-intimidating travel experience, and this might be exactly what the aviation industry needs to increase ticket sales, promote further global exchange and influence worldwide economic growth. With less time spent on the plane, travelers can spend more time enjoying their destination. If the goal of supersonic aviation is to forever change people’s travel experience as a whole, Boom’s technology allows for international travel to go from an often-agonizing process to an invigorating flying experience and rapid arrival, giving passengers an opportunity to focus on the overall good of their venture. “Ultimately, we would love to drive a paradigm change, where supersonic becomes really the way that people want to fly,” Savitt says.

More than 600 worldwide routes have already been planned for the manufacturer’s supersonic aircrafts, and it is only a matter of time until the revolutionary design finds its place among the private aviation sector, as well. Boom says they have already received 70 orders from distinguished commercial providers such as United, American and Japan Airlines to purchase the brand’s supersonic jets. Notable organizations such as Collins Aerospace, United States Air Force, Rolls Royce, American Express, and many others are also inquiring about partnerships with the cutting-edge aircraft. The expectation from these large partnerships is to have supersonic flight become people’s first choice of travel within the next 10-15 years. However, many fail to recognize that the rapid rate at which private aviation is growing post-pandemic, is only further fueling the need for supersonic travel. According to Argus Traqpak, the past few years have been a period of unprecedented growth for the private aviation industry, with flight activity in 2022 expected to be 15-20 percent greater than during the pre-COVID year of 2019. Private jet charter company Flexjet states, “through the first seven months of 2022, Flexjet’s flight activity was up 30 percent over 2021, which was its busiest year on record.” Private flights for both personal and executive travel have increased significantly since the end of the pandemic. A recent survey on private jet card comparisons discovered that 53 percent of people who started flying privately during the pandemic plan to continue using private air travel regularly. Furthermore, Airbus Corporate Jets noted that there were just over two million business aircraft departures in the U.S. during the first six months of 2022, which was roughly 15 percent higher than the same period in 2019, prior to the pandemic.

This shows that it is likely only a matter of time until the world of supersonic travel and the private aviation industry become one. Perhaps this is only the beginning of where revolution meets reality, once again.

An iconic hotel in Portugal is impressing the hospitality industry one project at a time. The luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon, located in the country’s bustling capital city, has undergone a complete renovation of its lavish accommodations. But this isn’t just a standard refresh; this project reflects the Ritz’s unique blending of rich history with fully modern sensibilities.

To help realize their vision of breathing new life into the classic property, the hotel’s owners partnered with esteemed Portugese architects Artur Miranda and Jacques Bec. With ambitious plans to infuse the historic hotel’s original 1950’s roots with a contemporary aesthetic, the team took inspiration from Room #44 (featuring a purely vintage 50’s-inspired design) and applied this theme to each of the property’s guest rooms. The result is a stunning homage to the hotel’s rich heritage and all that Lisbon has to offer travelers from across the world.

A noteworthy upgrade at the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon is its Michelin-starred restaurant “CURA,” which takes its name from the Portugese curadoria, meaning “skillful curatorship.” In fact, the entire restaurant space was deliberately designed as an extension of the hotel’s extensive art collection. Chef de Cuisine and head culinary curator Pedro Pena Bastos relies on meticulously sourced local produce for CURA’s offerings, which have been consistently recognized for their “high-quality cooking” and “all-authentic ingredients.” As Chef Bastos observes, “The history behind our iconic hotel and the surroundings of our restaurant are taken into account throughout the entire experience and quality we offer.” Signature items on the CURA menu include Merino lamb, Ossetra caviar, line caught sea bass, beef tartare, and many more. A highlight of the dining experience is the “bread moment,” featuring ancient grains, aged butter, and olive oil sourced from the native-Portugese chef’s family estate. CURA’s world-class menu and exceptional service have garnered high praise from foreign visitors and locals alike.

Although Lisbon sees over 300 sunny days a year, a hotel with an outdoor swimming area is a rarity in the popular destination city. The Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon, with its entirely redesigned outdoor pool, has filled that niche in stunning mid-century style. The hotel’s lushly landscaped pool area provides the perfect year-round getaway, with its comfortably-heated water temperatures and underwater speakers. The pool bar, covered in hand-crafted tiles, provides Lisbon-inspired cocktails and refreshing bites for those who simply want to enjoy some poolside relaxation, and the organic contour of the pool and the hotel’s luxury lounge chairs create a serene, park-like escape where guests can relax and enjoy the city views.

The reimagined and refreshed Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon is an idyllic retreat for those in search of a sophisticated oasis. In fact, there’s never been a better time to experience Lisbon’s most iconic hotel, where guests are sure to feel loved by Lisbon.

Savory Sustainability: Restaurants Go From Dirt to the Dining Table

Fine dining needs to encompass more than impeccable customer service and a luxury ambience to appeal to health-conscious restaurant goers. Nowadays, people care about the source of their food and we’re seeing proof of this globally as popular food brands tout their “all-natural” ingredients or “vegetarian-fed” animals. Organic food sales have been on a rapid rise over the last decade as people are growing more conscious of the processes behind the scenes of the industrial food industry. Whether it’s mistreated animals, pesticide-sprayed produce, or GMO’s, people are taking their food choices much more seriously. A few restaurants have recognized society’s growing awareness around food and have developed ethical sources for their ingredients because of it. Sustainability is a byproduct of using fresh ingredients, a byproduct that can ultimately change the food industry and the environment altogether.

Blue Hill Stone Barns

Farm and Table's Greenhouse

The appeal to consume clean ingredients is helping these farm-to-table concepts leave other restaurants to fall by the wayside. “Farm-to-table” simply means that the food is locally & organically grown, promising the freshest flavors and healthiest ingredients. The U.S. has seen massive growth with this concept, and the crowds are returning to these farm-to-table restaurants again and again largely in part because their food is also making them feel good. The persnickety palette of the health-conscious consumer often seeks out freshness, which is why the restaurants who grow their food on-site are seemingly doing so well.

Table setting at Blue Hill Stone Barns

Located in New York, the Blue Hill at Stone Barns sits atop 80 acres of pristine land filled with agriculture where people can “graze, peck, and root” – there is theoretically no distinction between the dining table and the earth. Oftentimes people envision farm-to-table meals as just elaborate salads; however, the cuisine options are truly endless. The Blue Hill uses mushrooms and parmesan grown right in their backyard to curate their famous “ricotta-filled gnocchi”.

Similarly, Honolulu’s Kaimana Farm Cafe in Hawaii curates fresh, Japanese-inspired meals such as a natural soufflé omelet, creamy potato skillet, colorful deli salads, gourmet bento boxes, and many more with their own locally-grown produce. It’s thanks to unique features like these that tables at the Blue Hill and at Honolulu’s Kaimana Farm Cafe will usually have to be booked months in advance.

The beauty of cooking with only locally-grown ingredients also allows for a colorful rotating menu. The popular Farm and Table restaurant located in Albuquerque has a menu that changes according to New Mexico’s harvests. From grilled artichoke hearts with goat cheese and crunchy fries with homemade aioli, to porcini crusted pork chops with bacon fig butter, the healthy eatery caters their menu to the growing season and only uses the finest in-season ingredients grown directly on their own 11-acre farm.

Whether you’re having a gourmet dinner on Farm and Table’s quiet patio under a warm desert sunset, or choose to enjoy a meal at the popular oceanside farm cafe in Honolulu, with dining choices such as these restaurant goers can experience true farm-to-table quality and walk away feeling healthy, inspired, and invigorated.

In the world of spirits everything is upright – liquors, wines, beers, they all come in the traditional form of an upright bottle. Many people even order their whiskey “straight up” to enjoy the chilled-out notes of their favorite bourbon brand. Now, the luxury car manufacturer Bentley has partnered with the award-winning whiskey distiller Macallan to shake things up. The two coveted companies have partnered to create an exclusive single malt whiskey that sits in a rare horizontal decanter.

Known as “The Macallan Horizon”, the new release is a unique combination of art, sustainability, and rich taste which creates a gorgeous result for the high-class whiskey connoisseur to enjoy. Both brands have a vibrant history of influencing their respective industries with one-of-a-kind products and now they look to extend their influence to the future of sustainability.

Macallan approached the revered British coachbuilder with their sought-after single malt whiskey and Bentley quickly jumped on the opportunity to mature Macallan’s famous recipe in one of their very own barrels. Bentley created a sustainable vessel to house the whiskey that is made out of six natural materials which both brands are famous for incorporating into their products. Each of the Macallan Horizon decanters have been upcycled or repurposed out of Bentley’s wood, glass, copper, aluminum, and carbon neutral leather. The final ingredient in their organic recipe is the whiskey held inside.

The whiskey vessel is truly an object of beauty, where artistic craftsmanship and raw materials become one. The sculpted masterpiece is made of glass that has been morphed into a 180-degree twist, covered in a brushed aluminum casing, and surrounded by a sleek layer of carefully-crafted wood. To top it off, the bottle includes a diamond-cut cap which serves as Bentley’s trademark design. The creators of this unique collaboration hope it will stand as a symbol of unity and forward-thinking, “designed especially for those with a discerning palate, an eye for beauty, and a passion for sustainable innovation”, further calling this product an “aesthetic experience”. Jaume Ferras, Global Creative Director for The Macallan, commented, “The Macallan Horizon is a limited edition product designed to inspire society on the possibilities of the future – the future of creating quality products and keeping it sustainable.”

This groundbreaking partnership is changing the spirits game as Macallan incorporates a Bentley masterpiece into the design of their bottle. And while the Macallan Horizon may be nothing more than just a savory sipper for the ultra elite, for others this product will be an investment intended to last a lifetime. The rumored-to-be high-priced whiskey will launch in the summer of 2023.

Tap into your sixth sense at this stylish & futuristic resort located at sky-high altitudes. Luxury resort brand, Six Senses, is set to launch their first-ever Swiss resort. Located in Crans, Switzerland, the Six Senses Crans-Montana hopes to attract the elite to this pristine Swiss city. Six Senses has exceptionally prestigious resorts located all over the world. However, in December of 2022 Six Senses will open their brand new Swiss resort for the snow-loving jetsetter.

The unique location intends to attract both the luxury traveler and the avid adventurer thanks to its state-of-the-art services and ski-in, ski-out hotel access. There are 46 luxury terrace accommodations, plus one- and three-bedroom suites, a 22,000-square-foot spa, and a handful of 3,000-square-foot residential apartments available for purchase. One particularly extraordinary feature about this hotel is the spa. It’s obvious that the Swiss do not take their spa services lightly as this resort is a wellness junky’s dream. The 22,000 sq-ft oasis offers common spa services like private massages, salon services, hot tubs and yoga studios. Yet, this Six Senses resort offers an extremist’s level of health & wellness services as well. Cold plunge pools, bio-salt saunas, stretch pods, and three different bio-hacking equipment brands are available for use. The resort team understands the needs of skiers, as sore legs and exhausted muscles require next-level recovery. Six Senses Crans-Montana’s spa is where recovery meets relaxation and where relaxation meets the black-diamond slopes.

The entire property is located just above the Cry d’Er gondola and is actually one of the only resorts where you don’t need a car. Thanks to the popular gondola and the funicular running daily, you can ski right in and out whenever you want. The location is labeled by locals as one of the prettier and more stylish areas because the resort sits just steps away from designer boutiques and gourmet restaurants, only adding to the prestige of this unique destination. Although, guests at Six Senses Crans-Montana often find they need not even leave the resort as there are a range of on-site activities, including two 5-star restaurants, a prestigious lounge, and a rooftop pool.

This first-ever Swiss Six Senses location will certainly earn the affection of visitors and locals alike. Continuing the tradition of the brand, there is an unmatched level of serenity and esteem at Crans-Montana that all Six Senses resorts possess with their minimalist earthy design and spiritually-intuitive wellness services. The chain has locations in some of the most remote places on the globe. For example, the scarcely-visited country of Bhutan has been voted the happiest country in all of Asia for many years, which makes it also one of the hardest countries to visit due to its strict tourism laws. Six Senses runs three sustainable and spacious luxury resorts in Bhutan, allowing the high-class tourist to experience the wholesome country in the easiest and most comfortable way possible.

The team at Six Senses has a priority for their guests to have the utmost meaningful experiences at their resorts. As a member from the hotel’s management team claims “We hope that our unique collection of rituals, reconnection experiences, and wellness days reignites your curiosity and passion for travel.” The accommodations of a trip can often alter the overall impression of a destination and Six Senses recognizes this. A few other remote destinations that Six Senses welcomes travelers to are the Qing Cheng Mountain in China, Fort Barwara in India, Shaharut, in Israel, Zil Pasyon on the private island of Félicité, as well as properties in Oman, Turkey, Brazil, Spain, and the Maldives, to name just a few.

Designed for jetsetters to push the reset button, relax, and explore the possibilities that these stunning locations have to offer, the forthcoming Six Senses Crans-Montana is more than worthy of adding to your travel destination bucket list.

Living On Water: Floating SeaPods Challenge Traditional Real Estate

The days of available oceanfront properties are coming to an end as seaside coastlines are quickly becoming filled with luxury real estate. All too often the popular beach towns we see in places such as California, Florida, and Hawaii are spotted with residential and commercial structures. Nowadays, oceanside destinations remind us more of a busy beehive than what’s meant to be a calming and serene beach experience.

As the populations of large seaside cities continue to grow, open oceanfront land continues to decline and buyers are left without a true taste of the great open blue. The founders and architects at Ocean Builders witnessed the lack of space available in these sought-after seaside towns and designed a never-before-seen floating home on the ocean. Grant Romundt, CEO of Ocean Builders, comments on the alarming real estate observation and claims: “Every day thousands of people all over the world move closer to the top 15 major metropolitan cities which are within 50 miles of a coastline—a trend that will continue to grow… We’ve been motivated by the opportunity to change and challenge the traditional real estate and tourism models and create first-in-class living experiences that can give back to our ocean environment.” Each of the innovative “SeaPods” sits 8-feet above the water and offers over 830 square-feet of living space. In total, each pod contains three different floors with a master bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, and a large storage area.

SeaPod Sustainability

Building a property on land typically involves clearing trees and scattering wildlife to pour concrete and lay bricks. However, the floating SeaPods completely avoid destructing land and offer an eco-friendly response to developing homes. The creators of the pods are not only looking to minimize degradation of the environment but also planning to contribute to its vitality. As the team describes, when you build a home on water it actually creates an environment for sea life to thrive. The SeaPod is considered a “fish aggregation device” because the shade from the pod above the water often attracts new sea life. It can lead to barnacle and coral growth and create an abundance of healthy homes for fish and marine life to flourish. Each SeaPod that’s installed drives the environment one step closer to a thriving ecosystem.

The company brilliantly combines sustainability and luxury within their SeaPods. The bright modern bathrooms have elegant showers with sleek faucets and soft water. Some might be wondering about the pod’s ability to collect fresh water in the middle of the ocean? Thanks to a partnership with the team at ShowerLoop, they are reducing shower water consumption by up to 90% using a continuously active 3-step water filtration process and recycling waste heat for use in heating water. The residents can make their water tanks last much longer with this process. Going above-and-beyond with sustainability, the company has additionally designed a solid waste incinerator that will turn toilet waste into a tablespoon of harmless non-toxic ash. All waste from incineration will be used to make hot water for showers, baths, and sinks.

SeaPod Design

When dreaming up their home of the future, the team at Ocean Builders envisioned elegance, simplicity, and calmness. To obtain this they decided to hide lightbulbs, switches, and power outlets by installing them into the design of the pod. These fixtures are high-quality and available whenever you need them but remain invisible to the eye. The LED light strips are hidden in the floor and ceiling to brighten the whole space with a gentle glow, allowing the focus to remain on the unparalleled ocean view.

Each pod contains massive panoramic windows that wrap around the home to create a 360-degree view of the beautiful surrounding landscape and allow for natural sunlight to flood inside the space. This intelligent method of promoting synergy, calm, and ease through feng shui provides a brilliant vantage point when compared with other real estate options.

Don’t get too intimidated by the solidarity of living in a pod as each property is equipped with various smart devices for connection to the mainland and will be set up with a drone to coordinate food deliveries and travel.

Designed with the affluent home buyer in mind, the less-than-1,000 sq-ft SeaPods can go for up to $1.5 million each. It’s the type of purchase that allows you to eat, sleep, breathe, and live in a paradise on water.

Relax and Reflect: Mirrors Make These Cabins “Disappear” Into Nature

Modern “glamping” resorts are continuing to impress the hospitality industry with next-level designs. Adventurous travelers are getting a true taste of nature with some of the creative glamping concepts popping up around the world. Whether it’s sleeping in a treehouse or a clear glass dome, certain accommodations help make all the difference in a traveler’s overall experience.

One such never-before-seen design in the world of glamping are these “invisible” cabins located in Tennessee. The Bolt Farm Treehouse resort company created only 5 of these disappearing accommodations, and although these rooms don’t actually disappear, they do appear invisible thanks to the cabin walls being built with one-sided mirrored glass. From the outside, you only see the reflection of the trees, sky and stars. From the inside, that’s all you see as well, making the guest feel as though they are truly surrounded by nature.

The design of this property is remarkable; it achieves both privacy and deep connection to some of the most pure, untouched parts of Tennessee. Each of the invisible cabins are placed over 50 feet apart from one another and all are facing different directions, with a large private patio that fulfills the manufacturer’s goal to combine solidarity with luxury. Because of the glass walls and open space there is almost no distinction between the room and the outdoors, prompting guests to be “one with” their surroundings.

Tori Bolt, Co-Founder of Bolt Farm Treehouse, had this exact goal in mind. Bolt comments on the aim of this experience: “Nature has this magical way of melting away stress, so it’s worth the hard work of anchoring these mirrored structures atop giant rock faces and next to waterfalls. The visually stunning architecture blends perfectly with nature, providing a fully immersive experience like no other.” Traveling has now taken a step beyond superficial luxuries as these designs induce a deeper connection with nature and oneself.

Due to the limited availability and high prices, accommodations such as these are not for the common traveler. Each room sleeps only 2 people and is meant for luxurious romantic getaways or adventurous couple-bonding. And while these cabins aren’t suitable for children, guests will be youthfully rejuvenated with all of the various outdoor activities available. Hiking to waterfalls, fishing in the Tennessee River, paragliding over the views, or horseback riding, the 54-acre mountain top property backs up to 5,000 acres of pristine nature providing a plethora of things to do.

However, don’t be too intimidated if the active lifestyle isn’t your goal, as the awesome cabin characteristics also allow its visitors to melt with relaxation. Private hot tubs and balconies, outdoor pizza ovens, high-speed internet, and complimentary soft robes create the perfect sanctuary right at your doorstep. It’s a wonderful way to elevate inspiration and promote rejuvenation through quality amenities and contemporary design.
