French luxury fashion giant Dior is preparing to tantalize taste buds in Japan with its latest gastronomic venture. In a fusion of haute couture and haute cuisine, Dior is set to open the doors of its first “Monsieur Dior” restaurant in Osaka in 2025, marking a significant expansion of the brand’s culinary footprint. This move builds upon Dior’s successful collaboration with renowned Michelin-starred chef Anne-Sophie Pic, promising an experience that blends exquisite fashion with world-class dining.

In this ambitious endeavor, Dior has once again joined forces with Anne-Sophie Pic, a name synonymous with culinary excellence. This partnership is not new terrain for the French fashion house and the celebrated chef. Their previous collaboration led to the creation of “Café Dior by Sophie Pic” at the Kansai International Airport in December 2023, which received accolades for its innovative approach to dining. The Osaka-based “Monsieur Dior” restaurant is set to take this synergy to new heights, offering a menu that is expected to be a mélange of creativity and luxury, mirroring the elegance and innovation of Dior’s fashion legacy.

Anne-Sophie Pic stands at the pinnacle of the culinary world, renowned for her unparalleled skill and creativity. As the chef with the most Michelin stars of any female in the industry, she holds an impressive total of 10 stars. Pic’s culinary prowess brings a unique blend of innovation and tradition to the table, making her an ideal partner for Dior’s foray into high-end gastronomy. Her approach to cooking, much like Dior’s approach to fashion, is characterized by a meticulous attention to detail and a relentless pursuit of perfection, promising an exceptional dining experience at the new “Monsieur Dior” restaurant.

The “Monsieur Dior” restaurant in Osaka is more than just a dining venue; it’s a celebration of the artistic interplay between fashion and food. Drawing inspiration from the iconic designs of Christian Dior, the menu is expected to feature culinary creations that echo the elegance and intricacy of Dior’s fashion pieces. Elements like “cannage,” “toile de Jouy,” “houndstooth,” “leopard,” and “compass rose” will not only influence the restaurant’s decor but also resonate in the plating and presentation of dishes. This concept aims to offer patrons a sensory journey that mirrors the sophistication and artistry inherent in Dior’s fashion collections, creating an immersive experience that transcends the boundaries of traditional fine dining.

Dior’s decision to open “Monsieur Dior” in Osaka signifies a strategic diversification into the realms of French ‘art de vivre’ and culinary excellence. While this marks the brand’s first restaurant venture in Japan, it is not an inaugural effort in blending fashion with gastronomy. The Paris flagship store previously introduced a Dior restaurant, guided by French chef Jean Imbert, setting a precedent for luxury dining experiences. Following its success, Dior expanded its culinary presence to the United States and other parts of Asia. Each “Monsieur Dior” restaurant embodies the essence of the Dior brand, offering a unique fusion of luxury fashion and gastronomy that attracts both fashion aficionados and gourmet enthusiasts.

Dior’s foray into the high-end dining scene is indicative of a broader trend among luxury brands diversifying into lifestyle experiences. However, Dior’s approach stands out in its seamless integration of fashion elements into the culinary experience, a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and excellence in all its endeavors. While other prestige brands have collaborated with culinary creatives, Dior’s unique blend of fashion-inspired menus and thematic decor sets a new standard in the luxury dining landscape. This strategy not only enhances brand visibility but also offers a holistic experience that resonates with the modern consumer’s desire for immersive luxury.

The upcoming “Monsieur Dior” restaurant in Osaka is more than a new culinary destination; it’s a symbol of Dior’s visionary approach to blending fashion with lifestyle experiences. By partnering with a culinary legend like Anne-Sophie Pic, Dior is poised to redefine luxury dining, offering an experience that is as aesthetically pleasing as it is gastronomically satisfying. This venture not only cements Dior’s status as a multifaceted luxury brand but also enriches the global luxury dining scene, setting new standards for what is possible when fashion and food converge.

In the heart of Las Vegas, at the illustrious Bellagio Hotel, lies The Mayfair Supper Club – a place where culinary artistry and theatrical enchantment intertwine. On a recent visit, my colleague Jeremy and I were privileged to immerse ourselves in its allure.

The Mayfair isn’t just a supper club; it’s an otherworldly realm, inspired by mythology and the enchanting tales of Neptune. The interior is a masterpiece of design by Martin Brudnizki, evoking the depths and mysteries of the ocean. A statement bar crowned with a sea-green Murano glass canopy serves as a focal point, while coral-inspired wall lights and scalloped-edge banquettes add to the underwater fantasy. The walls, adorned with ceramic shells, transport guests to an opulent, Neptune-esque kingdom. The rich layering of textures and colors creates a decadent and sophisticated setting that’s perfect for an evening of indulgence and dance.

As my colleague Jeremy and I stepped into the renowned Bellagio Hotel, we were immediately drawn into the mesmerizing world of The Mayfair Supper Club. The moment we entered, the enchanting sounds of Mrs. B’s performance greeted us, her voice weaving through the air, complemented by an array of musical pleasures and captivating dance. This introduction set the tone for what was to be an evening of unparalleled culinary and theatrical opulence. The exceptional Leilani and Joel assisted us through our journey. The ambiance was reminiscent of the golden age of Hollywood, with a touch of old Vegas glamour, this was setting the stage for an amazing culinary experience.

Our culinary voyage at The Mayfair was as impressive as the surroundings. The Mayfair Roll, an innovative take on sushi, let the freshness of the fish shine, with a dramatic flame upon serving adding to its allure. Accompanying this was the Hamachi Crudo, a delicate harmony of sashimi-style fish and a surprising hint of grapefruit, adding a refreshing twist to each bite.

As we savored these appetizers, Jeremy’s Copacabana cocktail, a tropical blend of flavors, provided a delightfully smooth start to our evening. My choice, the Cloud 9, was a sweet, effervescent champagne concoction, topped with cotton candy, creating a visually stunning and palate-pleasing first drink.

Before our main course, we were treated to the enthralling musical performances by the Mayfair Trio. The “Luck Be My Lady” number, perfectly synchronized with the Bellagio fountains, was a captivating display of auditory and visual harmony, enhancing the anticipation for our main dishes.

As we were captivated by their astounding perfoamnce, main course was heating up in the kitchen and soon was by our table side. Jeremy’s main course was the Garlic Crusted Prime Rib with Crab Oscar, a flawless surf and turf combination. The prime rib, cooked to tender perfection with a delicious garlic crust, paired beautifully with the delicate crab. Freshly cut and served right by our sides. His drink, the Smoked Old Fashioned, added a smoky depth that complemented his meal wonderfully.

I indulged in the Maine Lobster Thermidor, an exquisite blend of succulent lobster, rich Gruyère, and mushroom duxelle. Paired with The Lola, a refreshingly sweet cocktail with a cucumber twist, it was a culinary experience to remember. Together, we shared the Truffle Pasta, a creamy and luxurious interlude to our main courses.

Even though our taste buds were filled, we couldn’t escape our journey without the final sweets. For dessert, Jeremy chose the Carajillo, an espresso cocktail that rejuvenated our spirits, preparing us for the night ahead in Vegas. We both relished in the ‘The Cigar’, a unique dessert with a smoky chocolate flavor that surprised and delighted. The Cherry Jubilee, a balance of sweet and savory, was a refreshing treat. My Espresso Martini, paired with the dessert, was a rich and smooth conclusion to an extraordinary meal.

Throughout the evening, Manager Andy and his team ensured that our experience was nothing short of phenomenal. From the exquisite dishes to the theatrical performances, The Mayfair Supper Club proved to be more than a dining destination; it was a celebration of the senses. In the heart of Las Vegas, The Mayfair stands as a testament to the city’s allure – a place where culinary artistry, theatrical spectacle, and luxurious ambiance converge to create an unforgettable adventure into opulence and fantasy.

Las Vegas, the city that never sleeps, has unveiled its latest secret: The Vault at the Bellagio, a cocktail lounge that’s as elusive as it is exclusive. In a city known for its flashy announcements and over-the-top openings, The Vault chooses subtlety, almost whispering its presence. Here’s a peek into this hidden gem that’s rewriting the rulebook of luxury lounges.

The Entrance: A Secret Only For The Knowing

Picture this: you’re strolling through the Bellagio, one of Vegas’ most opulent hotels. Amid the clinking of slot machines and the dazzle of the casino, you find yourself at the casino cage. Nearby, a doorman stands unassumingly. No grand signage, no loud announcement – just a nod, and you’re in. This isn’t your average Vegas bar; this is The Vault, where exclusivity is the name of the game.

The Vault, once a nondescript office for casino hosts, has been transformed into an intimate alcove of luxury. With only 10 tables and a 50-person capacity, including a cozy 8-seat bar, it’s a world away from the bustling Vegas floor. The main parlor keeps the lights low and music at just the right volume without overwhelming the conversation. The décor screams opulence – gold doors, mohair walls, and an overhead light fixture, spanning nearly 9’ wide, showers a constellation of 80 glowing globes over bartenders dressed so suavely they could moonlight as GQ models. They pour and stir artfully, transforming a drink into an event, a performance, an odyssey.

A Symphony of Spirits: The Art of Mixology

The Vault’s drink menu is an ode to the art of cocktail making. Browsing the drink list is like flipping through the pages of a magazine with large photos dominating full pages. Four “Vintage Cocktails” are made with older out-of-circulation spirits curated through auction houses and private collectors. Each one is listed as “MP” for market price. The Captain’s Sidecar, with its 1930s Remy Martin, transports you back to a World War 1 era favoring the romantic story of an American army captain who invented the drink while serving in Paris during the Great War. Or try the Gold Rush Martinez, a gin-based twist on the Manhattan, featuring Beefeater from the 1950s. It’s not just a drink; it’s a journey through history. Craig Schoettler, Executive Director of Beverage, MGM Resorts International points out, “Now more than ever, visitors are looking for experiences when they travel. At The Vault, the cocktail itself becomes the experience. We offer a very special collection of rare and unique spirits from brands throughout the 20th century, which allows guests to “drink history” and understand exactly how a spirit tasted during a specific time period. Once that vintage is gone, it’s gone forever, which means a guest has the opportunity to discover something new each time they visit.”

A Culinary Companion: Indulgence in Every Bite

Food at The Vault isn’t just an afterthought; it’s a carefully crafted companion to the drinks. Petrossian caviars, with their rich and velvety textures, create a symphony of flavors, especially when paired with their homemade potato chips. The Basque Bikini, a contender for the world’s thinnest grilled cheese, is a testament to culinary innovation. And for the meat lovers, the Japanese A5 Wagyu tenderloin, served either as a steak sandwich or nigiri, is a decadent indulgence. Bellagio Vice President of Food & Beverage, Josef Wagner, encapsulates the visitors’ experience perfectly, “Guests find that it satisfies any rare spirit-collector cravings and provides culinary delights for the most sophisticated foodies”.

In a city where the new and the noisy often take the spotlight, The Vault at the Bellagio is a refreshing change. It’s not about the hype; it’s about the experience – discreet, exclusive, and utterly indulgent. It’s a place where the high standards of a true jetsetter are not just met but exceeded. This is not just a bar; it’s a statement – one that says luxury isn’t always about being the loudest in the room; sometimes, it’s about being the best-kept secret. So, if you’re looking for a taste of the high life, away from the public eye, The Vault at the Bellagio awaits. Just remember, it’s a secret worth keeping.

He tastes wines from all over the world, importing regional favorites from Mallorca, Sierras de Malaga, Galicia, and Uruguay.

Downstairs, the lounge offers a different kind of nightlife. Music-led evenings include tropical infused disco, Latin club sounds, deep-house, and afro-beat. Gloria Jakobs, music director, curates each night’s playlist, and the dance floor stays open until 12 AM.

Her Name was Carmen’s new redesign mixes rambunctious decor with timeless Latin ambiance. It will prioritize environmental sustainability and anthropological exploration of Latin America. Carmen is the only luxury Latin American restaurant in Manhattan, keeping Latin culture alive and well in Soho.

Interior of La Mar Cocina Peruana’s luxury cuisine

Chef-Owner Ray Lee’s Akikos has been winning raves as the new flagship restaurant located in The Avery by Related California’s outdoor pocket park in Downtown San Francisco’s East Cut area.

The 2,700 sq. ft. room, designed by AvroKO’s San Francisco studio, represents a significant expansion for the restaurant, which has developed significantly since its first launch in 1987. Akikos has gained a loyal following of locals, celebrities, and visitors alike for its unique sushi selections. When Ray took over the restaurant from his parents in 2009, he was the first in San Francisco to offer a traditional omakase experience, replete with fresh fish from Tokyo. The 24-seat Chef’s Stage dominates the dining room, giving guests a 360-degree view of Head Sushi Chef Shinsuke Hayashi and the team of chefs as they demonstrate their skills in a captivating performance. A burst of color is revealed as the chefs open drawers at their workstations, creating a continual primary color orchestra.

La Mar Cocina Peruana, the best Peruvian sea-to-table restaurant in the Bay Area, is run by famous chef and pioneer of Peruvian food Gaston Acurio and situated in San Francisco’s Embarcadero with panoramic views of the bay. La Mar Bar, located adjacent to the main restaurant, embraces the essence of Peru with sea-inspired design and welcomes visitors to sip pisco-centric cocktails combined with an array of sharable Peruvian bar snacks prepared by Executive Chef Victoriano Lopez in the middle of a vibrant social scene. The menu includes Peruvian classics such as the Causa, a duo of whipped potatoes topped with seafood or vegetables, and Lomo Saltado, a traditional Peruvian-style stir-fry of beef tenderloin sautéed with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, topped with a fried egg, papas fritas, and rice. Chef Lopez goes beyond the traditional to produce bright, fresh, and healthful foods that are gluten-free and vegan-friendly.
