Luxury superyacht charters

When it comes to luxury travel, few experiences can match the exclusivity and indulgence of chartering a Superyacht. Luxury superyacht charters are reserved for those seeking the ultimate in personalized escapes, this experience offers a bespoke journey tailored to satisfy every desire. Whether it’s basking in the golden sun of a Mediterranean summer or retreating to the serene, turquoise waters of the Caribbean, a yacht charter ensures unmatched privacy, freedom and customization. From the moment you step aboard, you’re in command of your itinerary, with access to stunning destinations and the luxury of time spent entirely on your terms.

Prime Charter Destinations

In the summer, the Mediterranean reigns supreme as a yachting playground, with the breathtaking coastlines of the South of France, Italy and the Greek islands at the forefront. Picture yourself sipping champagne as you sail from the iconic cliffs of Santorini to the vibrant shores of Mykonos or dropping anchor near the glitzy scene of Cannes. Meanwhile, rising stars like Croatia and Montenegro offer a fresh alternative, where tranquil bays, medieval towns and fewer crowds combine to create an intimate, unforgettable escape.

As winter sets in, the allure shifts to the Caribbean, where St. Barths stands out as the ultimate destination, especially for the festive season. The island transforms into a hub of luxury, with exclusive events, high-profile parties and the occasional celebrity sighting. St. Barths is where the elite come to celebrate, making it a must-visit for those chasing the winter sun.

On the horizon, Dubai is set to make waves in 2025 as a yachting hotspot, with Saudi Arabia poised to follow, opening up an exciting new frontier for luxury charters.

The Cost of Chartering a Superyacht

Chartering a yacht comes with a price tag that mirrors the luxury of the experience. Rates generally start at around $130,000 (€100,000) per week, with ultra-luxurious yachts like Kismet or Flying Fox demanding up to $3.9 million (€3 million) per week. However, this price typically only covers the yacht rental, similar to leasing a high-end car. Additional costs such as a 20 percent APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) must be considered, which covers expenses like fuel, food and docking fees. In Europe, you’ll also need to factor in approximately 20 percent VAT, and it’s customary to tip the crew about 10 percent of the charter rate. Altogether, expect total costs to be roughly 50 percent higher than the base charter fee.

For entry-level superyachts, options like the 27-meter Alumnia Too start at around $123,000 (€95,000) per week. Mid-range yachts, such as the 60-meter Benetti St David, are more popular, with rates around $455,000 (€350,) per week. Most yachts can accommodate up to 12 guests due to regulatory limits, but a select few are designed to host larger groups. One notable example is the 99-meter Christina O, capable of hosting up to 34 guests—perfect for lavish events, parties or even weddings. This iconic yacht charters for $960,000 (€740,000) per week, offering an opulent experience for those seeking larger-scale luxury.

Bespoke Experience

Luxury superyacht charters

Before your trip, you’ll be asked to complete a preference sheet, a vital tool for the crew to tailor the experience to your personal preferences. This document captures everything from your favorite foods and wines to your daily routines. Whether you like your breakfast served at dawn or prefer a leisurely brunch, or if you have specific dietary needs or even quirky requests, the crew will be prepared to meet your needs. In one instance, a client requested fresh camel milk while in Capri. Due to EU regulations, the charter company couldn’t source it internationally in time, so it located a farmer in France and arranged for it to be flown in the same day!

Big Players in the Charter Market

Lürssen, Kismet

Several prominent companies dominate the yacht charter market, including Burgess, Fraser, Northrop & Johnson and Morley Yachts. These brokerage firms not only offer yacht charters but also provide a range of services such as yacht sales and management. For those desiring a more personalized approach, independent consultants like Marcela de Kern Royer go beyond the typical offerings by crafting entirely bespoke, unforgettable experiences. These specialists focus on tailoring every aspect of the journey, ensuring that each client’s charter is unique and meticulously designed to their preferences.

A Bespoke Experience, Beyond the Yacht

Mykonos

For those seeking the pinnacle of personalized yacht charters, experts offer an elevated experience that caters to your every desire. Whether you’re planning a wellness retreat complete with detox menus, yoga sessions and sunset meditation guided by a shaman, or setting off on a family adventure with onboard marine biologists to explore new marine life, these charters go beyond traditional vacations.

Imagine heli-skiing in remote mountains with a private helicopter whisking you back to your yacht, where a spa and masseuse are waiting to help you unwind. Whether it’s corporate team-building events or custom wildlife expeditions, the focus is on creating unforgettable moments tailored precisely to your preferences.

As one charter guest described it: “It’s like having my own floating villa—completely private, unlike resorts or cruise ships. The yacht and crew follow your schedule, with meals and itineraries customized to your liking, ensuring an unforgettable experience.”

Chartering a yacht isn’t just a vacation—it’s a journey where luxury and adventure intertwine, all centered around your personal tastes. Whether for a summer escape or a winter retreat, few experiences compare to exploring the world from the comfort of your own floating paradise.

The 1980s brought international expansion, showcasing Regal’s ability to adapt and thrive in new markets.

The introduction of the patented FasTrac hull design in the 1990s was a defining moment for Regal. As Tim Kuck, Executive Vice President, says “We are really in the people business and happen to make great boats.”

Commitment to Excellence and Innovation

While Regal’s boats are renowned for their craftsmanship and cutting-edge features, the company’s true pride lies in its commitment to excellence. Every decision, from design to delivery, is guided by a desire to create something extraordinary. This dedication to quality comes with a personal passion. They are built for boaters, by boaters.

However, Regal’s innovation isn’t just about technology; it’s also about creating memorable experiences. This company understands that boating is about more than the boat itself – it’s about the moments shared with loved ones, the thrill of adventure, and the peace of being on the water.

Looking Ahead

As Regal Boats looks to the future, it remains grounded in the principles that have guided it for over half a century. The Kuck family’s vision of creating a company that enriches lives continues to this day. A Legacy of Excellence

For over 160 years, Burger Boat Company has been synonymous with innovation, precision, and timeless craftsmanship. Nestled on the shores of Lake Michigan in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Burger stands as one of the most iconic names in custom yacht building. Its legacy is built on blending artistry with cutting-edge technology, delivering vessels that define elegance and performance.

Burger’s creations reflect an unwavering commitment to quality, personalization, and a client-centered approach. The company has earned a reputation as a builder of not just yachts but dreams—crafting yachts that are as unique as the individuals who own them.

Building Dreams

At Burger Boat Company, every project starts with a vision—a client’s dream of a yacht that embodies their style and aspirations. Through a collaborative process, Burger transforms these dreams into reality.

Renowned for its expertise in custom yacht building, Burger crafts each vessel to the owner’s exact specifications. The skilled team of naval architects, engineers, and artisans works closely with clients, ensuring every detail aligns with their vision.

Currently, Burger is building two 180-foot motor yachts, exemplifying its ability to deliver ambitious, world-class projects. These yachts showcase spacious layouts, luxurious interiors, and cutting-edge technology, reflecting the pinnacle of design, engineering, and craftsmanship.

Every Burger yacht is designed to surpass expectations, seamlessly blending performance, beauty, and functionality.

Artistry Meets Technology

Burger Boat Company is a master of the delicate balance between tradition and innovation. At its core, Burger is a company of artisans—craftspeople who bring decades of experience and a meticulous eye for detail to every project. Yet, it’s also a company that embraces the latest technological advancements to push the boundaries of yacht design and construction.

The process begins with cutting-edge design software, allowing Burger’s team to create precise digital models and simulations of each yacht. This technology ensures that every detail is accounted for, from hydrodynamic performance to intricate interior designs. It also enables clients to see and refine their yacht’s design long before construction begins.

Once the designs are finalized, Burger’s team brings them to life using state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques. Hulls are expertly constructed for optimal performance, while interiors are crafted with a level of detail more akin to fine art than engineering. Each yacht features unique, client-selected finishes—whether hand-carved wood, custom textiles, or advanced entertainment systems. Every element is chosen to reflect the client’s personal taste, making each vessel truly one-of-a-kind.

The Burger Experience

What truly sets Burger apart is the experience it provides to its clients. Building a yacht is not just a transaction; it’s a journey, and Burger ensures that this journey is as seamless and enjoyable as possible.

From the initial design consultations to the moment the vessel is launched, Burger’s team keeps clients informed and involved every step of the way. Regular updates and collaborative decision-making ensure that clients feel a sense of ownership throughout the process. This transparency builds trust and fosters long-lasting relationships.

For many Burger clients, the relationship doesn’t end when their yacht is completed. Burger’s after-sales service is as meticulous as its construction process, offering ongoing support to ensure every yacht continues to perform flawlessly.

A Name That Resonates

Based in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Burger Boat Company has built a reputation for quality and innovation that attracts clients from far and wide. Despite this broad appeal, Burger stays firmly grounded in the values of its Midwestern roots.

This blend of widespread recognition and local pride makes Burger unique. The company delivers custom yachts that meet the highest standards while offering personalized, approachable service.

Design That Reflects the Owner

One of the hallmarks of a Burger yacht is its ability to reflect the personality and lifestyle of its owner. From the exterior profile to the smallest interior details, every element is customizable.

For the exteriors, Burger’s naval architects work to create designs that balance beauty and performance. Sleek lines and graceful curves combine with hulls engineered for superior stability and efficiency. Burger’s designs are timeless, ensuring that its yachts remain as elegant and functional decades after their launch as they were on day one.

Interior customization possibilities are nearly limitless. Owners can work with Burger’s in-house designers or bring their own interior design teams to the table. Layouts can be adjusted to prioritize social spaces, private retreats, or functional work areas, depending on the client’s needs. Materials, finishes, and furnishings are selected with the same level of care, resulting in interiors that are as luxurious as they are comfortable.

A Storied Past, A Bright Future

Burger Boat Company’s history is as remarkable as its vessels. Founded in 1863, the company began as a builder of wooden boats before transitioning to steel and aluminum yachts in the mid-20th century. This adaptability has been key to Burger’s success, allowing it to thrive in an ever-changing industry.

Today, Burger continues to evolve, embracing new technologies and techniques to ensure its yachts remain at the forefront of the market. However, the company never loses sight of its heritage. The craftsmanship and attention to detail that defined Burger in its early days remain central to its identity.

Looking ahead, Burger Boat Company is poised for even greater success. With a full order book and a growing reputation for excellence, Burger is cementing its status as one of the premier yacht builders in the world.

The Ultimate in Luxury

Owning a Burger yacht is about more than having a vessel—it’s about embracing a lifestyle. A lifestyle defined by elegance, adventure, and the freedom to explore the world’s most beautiful destinations on your terms.

For those who dream of a yacht that combines luxury, performance, and a storied legacy, there is no better choice than Burger Boat Company. From the first sketch to the final launch, Burger is dedicated to delivering an experience—and a vessel—that is nothing short of extraordinary.

The post Light and Sight appeared first on JetsetMag.com.

]]>

For Carlo Nuvolari and Dan Lenard, co-founders of the Nuvolari Lenard design firm, change is not only welcomed but actively pursued. It drives their design language forward, effortlessly blending form and function.

For many, the exterior of a yacht is the most visible aspect, and its sleek, sculpted lines often evoke a sense of forward motion. The Nuvolari Lenard team excels in this domain, having crafted some of the most iconic yachts in contemporary history, such as the 141.6-meter Nord, the 115-meter Ahpo, and the 60.3-meter Comfortably Numb. They continue to redefine industry standards with groundbreaking designs like the 202-meter Centerfold and the NLPlus, which encapsulates the essence of an ideal superyacht in a compact 52-meter frame.

According to Lenard, the exterior is only one part of the design equation, and it is inextricably linked to the interior layout and design. Having recently taken over the art direction of the studio’s interior design department, he is reinforcing the form-function interaction while also revitalizing the essence of what an interior can be. “A yacht,” he asserts, “should be conceived as a whole. Separating external design from internal design reduces the possibility of elevating the entire yacht project to a higher level—that is, to the level of a work of art.”

This is part of the team’s continuous effort to evolve, anticipate future trends, and refresh their design approach, especially as owners’ attitudes change regarding style and environmental concerns. “We clearly perceive the expectations of today’s shipowners who, regardless of their age, think differently and think younger,” Nuvolari states. “The COVID pandemic marked the beginning of a new era. In recent years, interior design has often seen appearance dominate substance, with an excess in the use of special (and expensive) materials.”

“We want to reverse this equation,” he continues, “with a trend that will see the exaltation of true design, less formality in environments, less emphasis in decoration, and interior design focused entirely on the individual and wellbeing.”

The Orangery: Light and Sight in Design

To achieve this fundamental shift, the Nuvolari Lenard team is concentrating on two crucial elements: a keen attention to proportion and precise layout and lighting planning. “This is where the connection with the exterior design reveals itself,” Lenard explains. “The emphasis on light influences the relationship with the yacht’s exterior, determining the shape and position of the windows.”

The Orangery of the Centerfold project exemplifies this progressive transition to a new trend, dominated by themes of light and sight with a clear aesthetic that avoids excess formalism or superfluous ornamentation. Massive glass expanses surrounding the room both vertically and overhead define the space. According to Lenard, it is an internal setting on the yacht that allows visitors to experience the feeling and ambiance of the sea.

Sustainable Interest in Interior Design

An additional crucial component of this reevaluation of interior design is the goal of enhancing consumer well-being and environmental sustainability. This element serves as a secondary motivator for Nuvolari Lenard’s updated interior design style.

Nuvolari has particularly focused on this, demonstrating the impact of using various materials and construction methods. He provides shipowners with extensive knowledge to elucidate these factors and assist them in making informed decisions. “We tend to condemn the use of certain materials only because we have limited—or tradition-distorted—information,” he says. “Often, we consider materials to be ‘sustainable’ that actually only have the appearance of being sustainable.”

Nuvolari cites natural leather as an example. “We frequently bemoan its usage, favoring synthetic leathers,” he claims, “but we overlook the fact that natural leather is a byproduct of the food industry. If discarded, it would have a detrimental effect on the environment.”

There are many such instances, which is why Nuvolari Lenard requests data and information from its suppliers regarding the source of materials and the methods utilized in their production to choose those that are more environmentally sustainable. “We are eager to educate shipowners about how the use of specific materials and construction techniques significantly impacts interior design,” Nuvolari continues, “and the fact that well-being has become one of their main expectations.”

The team is expanding its environmental considerations to include the impact of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and the release of harmful substances in interiors, which can persist long after the yacht is delivered. This is significant because these compounds can affect the quality of the air we breathe. While this topic is hotly debated in civil engineering, it has yet to be generally addressed in yachting. Nuvolari Lenard is actively discussing construction techniques and materials that can mitigate these detrimental effects with interior construction businesses.

By embracing change, Nuvolari Lenard not only advances its design approaches but also redefines the concept of design itself. “The success of interior design is no longer just stylistic but holistic, involving all aspects of the project—interior design, the relationship with exterior design, and the knowledge and correct use of appropriate and sustainable materials and techniques,” Lenard says. “This collaborative and innovative process is precisely what Nuvolari Lenard has established and applies to the realization of its interior projects. It’s how we plan to develop a new generation of iconic designs, both inside and out.”

This commitment to long-term service ensures that each yacht continues to perform at the highest level, reflecting the quality and craftsmanship that Burger is known for.

As Burger Boat Company looks to the future, the focus remains on innovation and excellence. Set Sail in Luxury to Explore the Ancient Archipelago of Raja Ampat – By Felicity Carter

Exploring the Indonesian archipelago of Raja Ampat by setting sail with Prana by Atzaró is certainly a special trip. Kingly by name, and kingly by nature, Raja Ampat (which translates to the “Four Kings”) is located off the northwest tip of Bird’s Head Peninsula in West Papua. It is known for its untouched natural beauty, and with its 1,500 islands, cays and shoals, it is one of the most remote destinations on the planet. There is no infrastructure, including airports, roads or hotels. Instead, expect white sand beaches, turquoise waters and an abundance of wildlife. It’s a haven for divers, too, thanks to the thriving coral reefs rich with colorful and varied marine life. While on land, there are ancient rock paintings on Misool Island to be seen and hiking to be done through tropical rivers that lead to secret serene spots. Or look up at the sky above Waigeo Island to see the crimson birds of paradise.

Being only accessible by boat makes the location even more extraordinary, and warrants a special vessel to match, cue Prana by Atzaró. On the world’s biggest and most luxurious phinisi yacht, you’ll sail in style. At just over 55 meters in length and 11 meters wide, Prana by Atzaró has been handcrafted in the style of a traditional Indonesian phinisi, a sailboat with two masts, built entirely of ironwood and beautiful, slick, teak using customary methods.

Prana by Atzaró has fostered a strong reputation for offering the world’s most lavish charter since it first set sail in 2018, and the service is second to none—on Prana the staff-to-guest ratio is 1:1. This has attracted the most discerning of clientele, ranging from A-listers to discreet high-net-worth individuals who seek adventure and solitude. After all, here, privacy is the ultimate luxury.

Having been founded by the five-star hospitality brand, Atzaró Group, Prana is also where a luxury yacht meets a 5-star hotel. The crew of 18 includes a cruise director, dive instructor, chefs, stewards and expert therapists for treatments, who are all on hand to deliver an impeccable experience. With fine dining, unlimited water sports, onboard spa treatments, world-class diving and heritage sites, a trip aboard Prana by Atzaró is one of a lifetime.

On board there is grandeur aplenty in the vintage-inspired and ultra-sumptuous interiors that are reminiscent of bygone glamour, sleeping up to 18 guests in nine lavish and spacious suites. Each ensuite cabin offers huge deep beds, rain showers, air conditioning and nautical design elements in smooth, solid teak wood, along with muted palettes and soft textures that emit an air of quiet luxury.

Being the world’s biggest phinisi yacht, there is plenty of room to relax and take in the views of the cerulean sea with Prana’s four spacious decks. They include a sundeck with king-size daybeds, a top yoga deck that’s ideal for your morning zen fix that doubles as an open-air cinema or an outdoor living room, while Prana’s main deck has both indoor and outdoor living spaces.

The hotel-type amenities continue with daily personal laundry and turn-down service, and for further relaxation, there is a spa treatment room and two masseuses on board at all times. The spa menu, designed by Anne Semonin, features body and beauty treatments from facials to scrubs and massages that’ll banish the jet lag.

From the spa menu to the food menu, Prana is also famous for its culinary delights, and this is where Chef Teguh and Chef Assistant Candra really come into their own, cooking up the most delicious Asian fusion and Western dishes that use seasonal, organic and locally sourced produce, ensuring all tastebuds are catered to.

Breakfast is served family-style and features fresh fruit platters and pastries, and additional dishes, such as French toast or a traditional Asian breakfast menu with Nasi Goreng (classic Indonesian fried rice), among others, are available from the a la carte menu. Lunch may be ceviche, grilled meat, fresh fish and salads, again served family style. Dinner calls for yellowfin tuna risotto, or their famous BBQ served on the beach under parasols for a unique dinner to remember. It’s also worth noting that Prana can cater for celebrations onboard—just inform Prana on the Charter Preference List.

Michael Wronski, the proficient Cruise Director, will discuss your daily menu options available for the following day, along with the itinerary to guarantee the smooth running of your trip. For those seeking adventure and exploration, the Prana team tailors the itinerary to specific requests, and having a wealth of knowledge of the area, they can offer hyper-personalized, unforgettable experiences.

Learn to scuba dive with Michael and Roy, the activities and diving managers, or snorkel and take in the beautiful and highly renowned waters that are bursting with species of vibrant coral (there are over 600 species in Raja Ampat with more than 40 being native to this region), plus 600 species of fish. Dive the Mioskon reef where you’ll see yellow snappers, batfish and moray eels, along with the occasional white or black tip reef sharks. Prana also stops by the world-renowned dive and snorkel sites of Melissa’s Garden, Batu Rufus and My Reef. If you are lucky, you may spot even more wildlife. It’s known that at least 16 species of whales and dolphins feed in these waters. Look out on the Dampier Strait to Waigeo for your best chances of sightings.

Water sports include sea kayaking—an ideal way to explore the mangroves of Arborek Island—and paddleboard in the lagoons of Piaynemo. Thrill-seekers can try wakeboarding and water-skiing, and for anglers, fishing equipment is also supplied along with towable floats.

For those who like a side of history with their adventure, Prana sails “The Passage,” a saltwater river that runs between Gam and Waigeo, that was originally described by the famous British naturalist, Alfred Russel Wallace in his book The Malay Archipelago in 1869. It’s where the jungle meets the sea as rapid tides flow through this thin channel, providing an exhilarating snorkel experience for those brave enough.

A once-in-a-lifestyle sailing experience, cruising aboard Prana by Atzaró offers all the romance and magic of a far-flung destination that’s akin to a maritime voyage, with exploration and adventure aplenty, discovering untouched paradises. Of course, though, guests upon Prana travel in utmost luxury, comfort, and style with unparalleled service, spectacular diving and fine dining, all coming together in a remarkable, memory-making, bucket-list trip that’s truly hard to beat.

Getting There
Raja Ampat may be remote, but getting there isn’t as tricky as you’d expect. Fly Business Class with Qatar Airways, and you’ll have access to world-class lounges at Qatar’s Hamad International Airport, which has just been ranked “Best Airport in the World 2024” by Skytrax. This includes Qatar Airways’ newest Al Mourjan Business Lounge—The Garden. While on board, make use of the beds to ensure you’re well-rested ahead of your adventure.

Stop off at Jakarta for a night (we stayed at The Orient Jakarta), and from there fly with Garuda Indonesian on to Domine Eduard Osok Airport, Sotong. Here you’ll be met by the Prana crew and whisked directly to the harbour (20 minutes by car), then it’s all aboard the phinisi.

Sailing Seasons
Prana by Atzaró sails all year, following the calm seas, so destinations are seasonal. The yacht sails Komodo National Park from May to October, the Spice Islands in November and May and Raja Ampat from December to April.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has raised the bar for luxury yachting with the introduction of its newest superyacht, Ilma. Designed by world-renowned, London-based AD Associates—with award-winning lighting designer DPA—Ilma’s interiors elegantly combine colors of bright, fresh, neutrals and Walnut, ensuring that the rich palette of textures and fabrications complements the expanse of the beautiful repurposed timbers. Most people don’t know that their next favorite wine is served on cruises.

It’s no secret that expectations surrounding luxury travel have been redefined throughout the past decade. No longer is luxury only about the most expensive experience with meticulous attention to detail to match, but now, rare and exclusive offerings are expected to qualify as an ultra-premium travel experience.

Think bespoke itineraries that provide insider access to the most famous sites in the world like a picnic at Petra, solo tours to the Colosseum, or hot air ballooning over the Serengeti. Travelers seek luxury in adventures that lead them where no other tourist is to gain perpetual bragging rights of “I went there.” Increasingly, rare and exclusive experiences have extended to food and beverage, to add to the notion of “I went there,” with “and I indulged in that.” The latter is particularly relevant to elusive labels of wine and spirits.

Perhaps this is why there’s been an uptick in expensive, rare labels, not just at five-star hotels across the globe but for floating vacations, from yachts to cruise ships. Rune Thomas, SVP of communications at SeaDream Yacht Club shares an example from a recent charter guest. “He requested a rare five-liter Chateau Petrus Magnum bottle,” said Thomas. “We were able to find one single bottle in Monaco and it was brought to the yacht in an armored car with guards closely following the bottle from the wine cellar in Monaco to the yacht.” Though Thomas was unable to comment on the price due to non-disclosures, a similar bottle is listed online for $49,999.

In case guests want to go big but not five-liter big, SeaDream Yacht Club’s wine cellar is always stocked with exquisite bottles such as Chateau Petrus Grand VII for $5,143 per bottle and Echezeaux Domaine De la Romane Conti 2011 for $3,945.

Though yacht charters have long been associated with an expectation of exquisite attention to detail and personalization, in recent years, several cruise lines have joined the ranks of elite offerings when it comes to wine and spirits, showcasing that they’ve adapted to the contemporary luxury traveler who expects access and exclusivity as part of their experience. After all, what could be more exclusive than sipping on a vintage that matches your birth year?

On board Viking Ocean Cruises, Torshavn Lounge and Bar is stocked with the largest vintage selection across any cruise ship with their Armagnac collection spanning 1935 to 1965, inspired by Chairman of Viking Torstein Hagen who pictured 30 years of vintage spirits as an offering for guests to celebrate their birth year. The hotel operations team landed on Armagnac as they say it’s “more special, with more fruit content that ages differently than cognac,” for an unexpected tipple. Prices vary by year, but the most costly is a 4cl pour (about 1.3 oz) of 1948 Armagnac for $332.

On Silversea, the Connoisseur Corner waits to delight guests with premium spirits, including cognac, scotch, tequila, bourbon and grappa. The most expensive selection currently available is Reserve Hennessy Richard Cognac—$350 per glass or $9,000 for the bottle—a unique presentation of 250 years of Maison Hennessy that offers a special blend of rare eaux-de-vie for a delicate nose and spicy palate.

In the American whiskey category, Silversea features Pappy Van Winkle 20-year-old, considered as a cult bourbon among enthusiasts and celebrated for its heritage and rarity (not to mention, when it was first released in 1994, it became the world’s first 20-year-aged bourbon). It’s extremely challenging to get your hands on, let alone a sip of, but on Silversea, guests can enjoy a glass for $240 or a bottle for $6,000.

It’s not all about spirits. In recent years, Princess Cruises has prioritized enhancing its wine program. They’ve worked with prominent figures in the wine world, including a past partnership under the guidance of Master of Wine and Master Sommelier Doug Frost to expand their selections and a current collaboration with Caymus Vineyards and owner Chuck Wagner for a wine-pairing dinner at their Crown Grill. Among the selection of unique vintages listed on their wine list is the indulgent $5,288 bottle of Chateau Petrus Pomerol.

Cunard has also amped up its wine offerings with a variety of hand-picked wine packages curated by their partner sommeliers and stored in their onboard cellar. The most expensive of the packages is The Commodore’s Collection, which is $445 for six bottles or $750 for 12 bottles with access to selections from premier wine regions from Châteauneuf-du-Pape to Napa.

When it comes to river cruising, Riverside Luxury Cruises sets an exceptional standard across the pond with their European sailings. Their house Champagne is Tattinger Brut Reserve, though there’s no outrageous price associated with this pour, as guests aren’t charged for the house wine. The new company is leading by example—included alcohol can equate to quality.

For guests seeking a bit more, Riverside Luxury Cruises presents their coveted private dining space, the Vintage Room, where reservations can be made for a premium wine and food pairing for 295 euros. That price is inclusive of the grand selection of wine labels available, from bubbles like Dom Pérignon, to great estate white wines like Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles La Chablisienne, and red wines such as Opus One, Mondavi & Baron Phillippe Rothschild.

If you have your eye on a prized bottle that you haven’t gained access to yet, on your next sailing, it might be worth asking about your chosen vessel’s top-shelf labels—you may have a better chance of securing a sip on the water than you do on dry land.
